Versus 4

Salam...

it's been a while since my last post on 'versus'. So, today, my latest discovery on two movies that happened to have similarities between them, the said movies are "Got to Believe" and "27 Dresses". Yeah, most of you will automatically knew the second movie (27 Dresses) but only some of us are aware of the existence of the first movie(Got to Believe) maybe because it is an Asian movie. Most of the characters in both movies are quite similar and even the plots of both film I must say are totally the same. Suprisingly, Got To Believe was first released in theater on 2002 whereas 27 Dresses was released on 2008, since both of the films have quite similar plots and characters, did the writer for the 27 Dresses genuinely produced the idea or maybe she had a "little" reference from  Got to Believe. Well, perhaps only Aline Brosh McKenna have the answer to that. Back to business, I've listed down all the similarities and the differences between both films but I must say that they have a lot of similarities rather than differences.

Similarities:

1. Both of the lead actress in both films are wedding planner a.k.a mak andam gitu
2. both couples get to know each other through the wedding of their friends
3. both couples involved in wedding prep events
4. of course.. in the end both of them will fall in love with each other after some dramas and conflict

Differences:

1. the lead actor in "Got to Believe" is a wedding photographer, lead actor in "27 Dresses" is a columnist.
2. the lead actress in "GTB" dont have "any pain in the ass " sister, the lead actress in "27Dresses" has one.

so that's it... any addition would be gladly welcome :-)

Versus 3

Salam...

 woahh...it is time for Versus segment..hahaha..
this time I choose to blog review about the movie Real Steel (2011)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Steel and an old-skool film Over The Top (1987)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Over_the_Top_%28film%29 . Basically, both of the films are about father-son relationship and the cliche is the BIG TOURNAMENT. So, here's the similarities and differences between both films.

Similarities:

1.  both films are about an estranged father and son which reunited because of the mother/girlfriend passed away.
2. both of the fathers are involved in some sort of wrestling sport.
3. the mother/ girlfriend came from well-known/rich family. The father are poorer obviously, or else the boys will choose to stay with their father rather than their mom because it is more fun to watch your father involved in something that is fun for kids (e.g: RS=robotic wrestling ; OTT=fist wrestling)
4. the boys in both films are cute and handsome...hehehe + the father of course is a very well known actor.
5. the estranged fathers in both films use trucks as their main transportation + mobile home.
6. the fathers in both films are a former boxers.

Differences

1. RS = robots wrestling ; OTT = fist wrestling
2. RS = the ex girlfriend passed away ; OTT = ex-wife passed away
3. RS = the battle of custody was between the father and the aunt (gf's annoying sister) ; OTT = the battle of custody was between the father and the grandfather ( wife's father).

Versus 2

just finished watching He Said She Said on HBO. It is quite an old film by the way, released on 1991.

For me, the storyline are almost the same as the Ugly Trut(2009), you may also read the film summary here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ugly_Truth_%28film%29. However, there's some differences and similarities between both films of course..hehehe... p/s:kalau tak,takda la versus 2 ni..hehehe... here we go...:

Ugly Truth

He Said She Said

• He Said She Said : both are journalist but will host a show called "He Said She Said" later on together.
•  Ugly Truth : both involved in TV show called the Ugly Truth , the lead actress is a TV producer, and the lead actor is a TV host
• He Said She Said : the lead actress are more lenient or easy to influence because she eventually believed  the lead actor to be in love with her. Even though she knew that Dan slept with another women while dating her, she simply forgive him
• Ugly Truth : the lead actress (Katherine Heigl) doesn't fall for the lead actor easily, she takes time to fall in love with the lead actor ( Gerard Butler).
• Similarities : both are related with journalism.
• Similarities : both lead actors are male chauvinist.
• Similarities : both lead actor and actress are awesome and good looking...huhuh

Versus 1

The Uninvited (2009) vs A Tale of Two Sisters (2003)

Assalamualaikum..

 Entry kali ni pasal dua buah cerita thriller yang memang menyeramkan dan ia digarap daripada dua org director yang berbeza (seorg dr Barat, seorg dr Asia). dan disebabkan aku ni memang peminat no.1 dlm movie2 thriller/horror ni jd aku dengan rajinnya(a.k.a tkde kerja dh ni...) menyediakan list the perbezaan dan persamaan yg ada dlm kedua-dua cerita ni.

Utk segmen "sama tapi tak serupa" ni, dua-dua cerita ni mempunyai banyak persamaan(purple)dh kata pun remake film yg satu lagi, tapi ada jugak perbezaan[purple(The Uninvited)+red(a tale of two Sisters)] nya.

Ready...

Persamaan

• kedua-dua cerita berkaitan dengan kasih-sayang adik-bradik perempuan. (Anna+Alex/ Su-Mi+Su-Yeon)
• mak tiri yang digambarkan sebagai "the evil step-mom" (lakonan Elizabeth Shue/ Yeom Jung Ah)
• dua-dua step-mom ni adalah "live-in nurse" utk menjaga mak diaorg yg sakit + mak tiri ni jgkla yg flirt dengan ayah diaorg.
• salah seorg adik-bradik ni ade penyakit iaitu dissociative identity disorder. ataupun split-personality.
• dua2 bapak dlm cerita ni memang miang...hahaha
• dua-dua cerita berlaku hanya disebabkan oleh fantasi salah seorg adik-bradik yg sakit ni.

Perbezaan

•  mak diaorg meninggal sebab kebakaran dkt "boathouse" yg disebabkan oleh Anna Contrastnya mak diaorg meninggal disebabkan gantung diri dalam almari+overdose
• kakak Anna (Alex) mati disebabkan kebakaran di "boathouse" jugak Contrastnya adik Su-mi (Su-Yeon) mati sebab terhimpap almari masa nk selamatkan mak dia yg menggantungkan diri tu.
• dalam The Uninvited ditmbahkankan satu scene dimana si Nurse ni tukr nama dan dia sbnrnya tkde record dlm satu hospital ni yang mana diselidiki oleh adik bradik ni Contrastnya dalam cerita ATOTS ni tkda diselitkan lgsung scene ni
• Anna telah membunuh mak tiri dia ( Rachel) di akhir cerita Contrastnya Su-Mi tak bunuh pun mak tiri dia diakhir cerita sebab apa yg jadi spjg cerita ni hanya fantasi dia semata(ala2 syok sendiri la ni). 

Scene "kalau skip rugi"

• scene akhir The Uninvited bila Anna memegang pisau dn dpt tahu semuanya khayalan dia saja
• scene bila adik Eun-Ju (a.k.a step-mum) melawat dgn wife dia bila wife dia tercekik dn nmpk lembaga bdk kecik bwh kabinet(fusshshh...takut woo)

Ok itu sampai sini sahaja kerajinan saya utk menaip( p/s: dh mengantuk sbnrnya pun)..huhuhu..jumpa lagi dlm segmen " Sama Tapi Tak Serupa" dn Selamat Beramal!!...hehehe
